
Brief History
The Department is responsible to the ECWA President as the Chief Accounting Officer of ECWA who direct and supervise the work of the department.
Prior to 1991, this department operated as a unit under ECWA Finance Department in order to strengthen the internal control system. From available records, the under-listed persons were the pioneer staff of the unit.

In 1991, the unit became a department under the leadership of Mr. Moses Y. Dembo.
Purpose of Internal Audit
The aim and objectives of the department is to safeguard the assets of ECWA, avoid wastages and ensure that errors, frauds and misappropriation of funds are minimized. It is also undertaking the appraisal of activities as well as the review of operating, financial and other business practices.
The department ensures compliance with corporate policies, practices and procedures. It is also saddled with the task of ensuring that accounting records are kept in accurate with ECWA Financial Policies and guidelines, statement of accounting standards and global best practices.
